MoVira Fare & Payment Policies (AI-Enhanced)

This page explains how fares, fees, and driver earnings work. It is written for clarity and incorporated by reference into the TOS.
1. Rider Fare Structure
- Base Fare: $3.00 + $1.50 per mile (or regional equivalent)
- Time Component: $0.25 per minute after the first 2 minutes of travel
- Tolls & Parking: Added automatically at actual cost
- Upfront Estimate & Final Fare: Riders see an upfront estimate before booking; the final fare is calculated at trip end based on actual distance/time.
AI-Balanced Pricing (No “surge shock”)
MoVira uses AI to apply modest, transparent adjustments within approved limits (typically ±10–15%) in response to conditions such as demand, traffic, weather, or access difficulty. We show a short reason when an adjustment applies (e.g., “High traffic: +8%”).
2. Long Pickup Fee (Distance to Pickup)

AI predicts driver density and long pickups to reduce rider waits and compensate drivers fairly.
3. Wait-Time Policy (Day & Night)
Daytime (6:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.)
- First 5 minutes free after driver arrival
- Then $0.30/min, capped at $5
Nighttime (10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.)
- First 3 minutes free after driver arrival
- Then $0.40/min, capped at $6
AI may extend or reduce charges if it detects the rider is actively approaching or there are safety factors at night.
4. Stops
- First stop free (up to 3 minutes)
- Each additional stop: $3 per stop + $1/min after 3 minutes
5. Cancellations & No-Shows (Fair & Clear)
- Cancel within 2 minutes of booking: Free
- After dispatch (once a driver accepts; typically after the free 2-minute window): 10% of estimated fare
- After driver arrival at pickup: 20% of estimated fare
- No-show (5 minutes after arrival): 25% of estimated fare
AI considers driver travel distance/time to apply the fairest applicable tier.
6. Driver Earnings
- Drivers keep 100% of fares, minus Stripe processing fees
- No MoVira commission — drivers subscribe weekly/monthly to access “Go Online”
- Tips: 100% belong to drivers
- Instant payouts available via Stripe Connect where supported
7. AI-Powered Fare Intelligence (Transparency)
- Dynamic pricing within set bounds (±10–15%)
- Route validation: detects abnormal detours/GPS errors
- Wait-time prediction: considers rider motion & proximity
- Pickup optimization: faster matching and alternate pickup suggestions
- Fairness audits: daily anomaly checks for rider/driver protection
8. Fair Fare Promise
All fares are transparent and upfront, with clear explanations for any AI adjustments. No hidden fees. No exploitative price spikes. Riders see estimates before booking; drivers are compensated for every mile and minute of honest work.
